The timeless charm of India’s mehfil culture found a contemporary expression in Mumbai as Rangrez – Mehfil-E-Ehsaas by Rajeev Vyas (RV) captivated audiences at Mukesh Patel Auditorium on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Conceived as an intimate musical experience rather than a conventional concert, Rangrez featured a seamless blend of ghazals, Sufi music, retro classics and contemporary fusion performances. The evening was led by Rajeev Vyas, who alongside his professional journey as the founder of Vinar Overseas Pvt. Ltd., has been steadily building a space for himself in the live music and independent performance circuit through concept-based musical showcases and collaborations with Saregama.
The concert focused on recreating the emotional intimacy associated with traditional mehfils. Live orchestration featuring instruments such as the sarangi, santoor, flute and sitar added depth to the musical experience. The blend of classical textures with contemporary arrangements gave the evening a distinctive identity that resonated across generations of listeners.
A major highlight of the event was a special musical tribute to iconic singer Asha Bhosle. Performances celebrating some of her evergreen songs drew enthusiastic applause from the audience and emerged as one of the most memorable segments of the evening.
Sharing the thought behind Rangrez, Rajeev Vyas said, “The idea was to create an experience where audiences could reconnect with music in its purest and most emotional form. Mehfils have always represented intimacy, storytelling and expression, and Rangrez was an attempt to revive that essence for today’s audiences.”
