Ravi Chhabra: There is no technical formula for maintaining friendship; it's about feeling

Ravi Chhabra, who essays the role of Beera in the popular show Pyaar Ka Pehla Adhyaya Shiv Shakti, produced by Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah (Studio LSD) holds friendship in high regard, both on and off the screen.

Ravi Chhabra firmly believes that friendship is a cornerstone of life. He articulates, “Friendship is very important in life. Because having a close friend is very necessary. The things you cannot share with anyone else, you can share with that friend.”

When asked about his best friend, Ravi doesn’t hesitate to mention Siraj, his steadfast companion in Mumbai. “He has been with me through every difficult time since I started. I talk to him about everything, from my personal life to my professional life. What I think, What do I want to do about things, How do I go about it, He is my business partner and my close friend.”

Loyalty is a trait Ravi deeply values in his friendships. He shares, “The first quality I would like to see in my friends is loyalty. How they reacted during our difficult times and whether there was any change in their behavior during our success. A person should be loyal in terms of money or any difficulties. If they stand with us, that is important and likewise.”

The television industry is known for its demanding schedules and competitive nature. Despite this, Ravi says, “I think there is no technical formula for maintaining friendship. Because even if we are not talking to someone, they know that their friend is busy somewhere. I trust them. Even if I haven’t met a friend for a year and have only talked on the phone once, I don’t think any disputes arise in friendship. Because it’s a game of trust, a game of feelings. So, there is no technical formula for maintaining it. It’s about feeling, it’s about how well they know me and how well I know them.”

While Ravi hasn’t formed particularly close friendships with his co-actors but he speaks warmly of the working environment. “Currently, I haven’t developed a very close friendship with the co-actors of the current show, but I really liked the entire set there. I found the director there, Ashish Ji, he is very nice and it was great getting to know him a little, then the production head, also makeup crew.”

Ravi finds parallels between his real-life friendships and those depicted on-screen. He notes, “Most of my scenes currently are with Mohini aka Dolly Chawla, who is playing my sister’s character, so I am open with her. I am the kind of person who talks openly with someone who has deep discussions. I have had such discussions with Mohini as well. So, I am almost the same in both places, in my real life and in front of the camera as well.”

Reflecting on the role of friendship in his life, Ravi acknowledges, “Actually, in my personal and professional life, in my growth, friendship has played a very important role. I think I have even written a script for it, like, when I will get an award, any award, like for a negative or positive character, I will definitely mention my friend’s name in my speech. So, friendship has played a very big role. Whether it is about motivation, suggestions, or guidance. I always take my Bestfriends experience into account in my professional and personal life,” he adds.
