RJ Mahvash, known for her sharp opinions and quick wit, is currently winning hearts in Yash and Mamta Patnaik’s series Pyaar Paisa Profit, streaming on Amazon MX Player. Playing the role of Garima, a complex, emotionally layered character, Mahvash shares how the show changed her perspective on life and love. “You need someone to raise a toast with — your friends, your people. That’s why I truly believe Pyaar stands ahead of Paisa, and that’s the biggest realization I’ve had through this series,” she says. “No amount of money can give you the comfort that love does. If there is love, everything else can take a backseat.” Known for her bold choices in real life, Mahvash says she relates to Garima’s emotional journey on many levels. “I’m all about taking risks. Even if there’s a 50% chance I might fail, there’s a 100% chance I’ll regret not trying. I moved to this city within two days of deciding — that’s how I operate.” Garima, however, posed some challenges. “She’s treated like a doormat, and yet keeps going back to the same people with kindness. It shocked me. We’re always told to say ‘yes’, but I wish we were taught to say ‘no’ when someone treats us wrong. Garima forgives and forgets. I forgive, but never forget.” On the acting front, Mahvash found it tricky to portray Garima’s aloofness. “She has this snooty exterior, while I’m the opposite — always smiling and approachable. But as an actor, you have to slip into someone else’s soul.” Talking about what drew her to the character, she says, “She’s dumb in love, just like me. She avoids red flags, just like I do. But what I really love is how the show treats emotions as strength, not weakness. That’s rare to see, and it’s what makes Garima so special to me.”
