While he is fabulous actor, singing is also something that has played a major role in shaping Saanand Verma. The actor, who has been seen in films such as Raid, Mardaani and Chhichhore, will soon be making his singing debut with multiple songs in the film Golambar. “I first enjoyed singing when I was a child, even when I was in someone’s lap. At that time too, I used to sing. My maternal grandfather used to say that I was a famous artist he even gave me the name “Kalakaar Bhaiya”. So, since childhood, even when I was in someone’s arms, I have been humming. Singing is natural for me. I always say that an actor and a singer were born inside me, they live within me. I have always felt this from childhood. Ever since I became aware of myself, I have been singing and acting. These are the two things I’ve done,” he says. While life took him in different directions, he never left singing. “Apart from that, of course, I have done creative work for my livelihood. I worked a lot in the corporate sector. I also got into direction, and I received a lot of recognition in direction. I have made big promos, done a lot of writing done a lot of work. But I never left singing. Singing has always stayed inside me. It has always been with me. Throughout my entire journey, singing has walked alongside me,” he says.
Talking about his musical inspirations, he says, “My musical inspiration is Kishore Kumar he is number one. Then my musical inspiration is Mohammad Rafi ji. My musical inspiration is Mukesh ji, Lata Mangeshkar ji, Ghulam Ali ji, Jagjit Singh ji, Asha Bhosle ji, Hemant Kumar ji, and Kundan Lal Saigal ji, of course. Apart from them, these are the people I have always listened to. He adds, “Number one inspiration is Kishore Kumar ji. After that, Mohammad Rafi ji. Then Mukesh ji. After that, Lata Mangeshkar ji, Asha Bhosle ji, then Hemant Kumar ji, R.D. Burman, S.D. Burman, Jagjit Singh ji, Ghulam Ali ji, Kumar Sanu and Sonu Nigam. All of these have been an inspiration for me in music.”
