Zee TV’s latest offering, Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, is winning hearts with its powerful narrative and layered storytelling. Adapted from Zee Kannada’s acclaimed Puttakana Makkalu, the show traces the emotional journey of Ganga Mai, a woman abandoned by her husband for not bearing a son. Choosing dignity over despair, she raises her three daughters with courage and resilience against the soulful backdrop of Varanasi. The show beautifully celebrates the strength of women and the unbreakable bond between a mother and her daughters.
Producer-actor Sargun Mehta, who runs Dreamiyata with her husband Ravie Dubey, shared that what makes Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan stand out is not just its storyline but its vast ensemble of characters. With nearly 35 roles cast over six months, the show has been one of the most challenging yet fulfilling projects for her.
Sargun said, “There are very few shows on television that allow you to explore so many characters, each with their own story and depth. We’ve had around 35 characters to cast, which took nearly six months, and it has been the toughest casting journey we’ve ever had. But we were determined to find the perfect actor for every role—no matter how big or small—so that the entire world of the show feels authentic and alive. Every time I watch certain scenes, I can’t help but smile, and I’m excited to see if the audience feels the same way. We’ve poured our heart and soul into this show, and it’s rewarding to finally see it connect with viewers.”
With its layered characters, authentic setting, and emotional storytelling, Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan is already resonating strongly with audiences, offering them not just a television drama but an experience that makes them smile, cry, and reflect.
