On the occasion of Republic Day, Ultra Jhakaas, the biggest Marathi only regional OTT platform, presents a special offering – Saubhagyawati Sarpanch’, a riveting web series celebrating women empowerment in rural India. The series is a satirical attempt to bring to the masses the suspense and roller coaster of the hotly contested panchayat elections especially when they are contested by women in rural Maharashtra. An exclusive “Meet & Greet” with the star cast of ‘Saubhagyawati Sarpanch’ which included Devika Daftardar, Kishore Kadam, Nagesh Bhosale, and Ashwini Kulkarni along with Series director Santosh Kolhe. Sushil Kumar Agrawal, CEO, Ultra Media and Entertainment, were also present at the event.
‘Saubhagyawati Sarpanch’ the quirky new web series chronicles the extraordinary journey of Awali, a simple housewife who, after being elected as the sarpanch in a women-reserved position, takes on the challenge of village development and has a vision to turn it into a modern city. The story beautifully captures her struggles and triumphs as she breaks stereotypes and shatters societal norms, offering a powerful message: everyone has the right to dream and achieve. The story also weaves a tale on the effects of being elected as the Sarpanch of the village and juggling to manage the house along with her husband’s bruised ego. It highlights the fundamental role of women’s empowerment in societal progress, emphasizing that every woman has an undeniable right to freedom, education, and leadership.
Featuring a stellar cast including Devika Daftardar, Kishore Kadam, Asha Jante, Nagesh Bhosale, Ashwini Kulkarni, and Padmanabh Bhind, and the series is produced by Sushil Kumar Agrawal and directed by popular director Santosh Kolhe. It delves deeply into themes like relationships, patriarchal mindsets, and the transformative power of women empowerment, making it both relatable and thought-provoking.
