Acclaimed music composer and singer Shekhar Ravjiani held a press conference on March 8 along with Global Schools Group on the hit Tamil independent single Paiyya Paiyya sung by one of his promising student 17-year old Aarathana Senthilraja.
The event showcases the success of Global Schools-Shekhar Ravjiani School of Music (GSSRSM) in nurturing young musical talent. Paiyya Paiyya, was composed and produced by Shekhar Ravjiani under his independent label, Garuudaa Musiic.
Since its establishment in 2020, GSSRSM has mentored over 900 students, providing them with expert-led training in singing, composing, and musical production. The school, a pioneering collaboration between Global Schools Group and Shekhar Ravjiani, is dedicated to identifying and nurturing young talent across various countries with GSG presence, including India, the UAE, Japan, and Malaysia.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Shekhar said he plans to give more talented youngsters a chance to excel as part of his desire to nurture young musical talent.
“I plan to release more songs over the coming years, and give young people a platform to excel,” Shekhar said during a press conference held at Hotel Raintree in Chennai. Ms Aarathana is part of GSSRSMs mentorship programme.

Speaking about Aarathana, Shekhar said, “Through my record label, Garuudaa Musiic, I have released 28 widely acclaimed independent pop singles, exploring diverse genres and languages. While each song reflects my journey as a composer and singer, I have always aspired to go beyond my own music—to mentor and showcase emerging talent.”
Also present at the event was Tamil film producer Hema Rukmani, an alumna of Global Schools Group, who has made her name in the field of art, true to GSG’s holistic education that encourages learning beyond academics. Aarathana is the latest in the generation of students who are given a platform to excel beyond the classroom by GSG schools.
GSG Deputy Country Director for India (south), Avneesh Singh, said the Group is committed to holistic education: “At Global Schools Group, we believe in fostering talent across disciplines, whether it’s music, science, sports, or leadership. Our partnership with Shekhar Ravjiani has been instrumental in unlocking the potential of young musicians, and we are proud to support initiatives like GSSRSM that provide students with world-class mentorship and exposure.”
At today’s press conference, Shekhar expressed his keen interest in working on a film featuring Superstar Rajinikanth. He also shared his deep admiration for the legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja, acknowledging his immense contribution to the world of music. Shekar emphasised that music transcends geographical and linguistic boundaries, reinforcing its universal appeal.
