Shivangi Verma, who has been part of the web series Tera Ishq Mera Fitoor, says that the advent of OTT has changed her career trajectory. She adds that she got to a play a role which was unheard of in conventional platforms.
“The rise of OTT platforms has brought a big change to my career. Earlier, the options were mainly films or TV shows, but now, with OTT, there are so many new opportunities. It’s like a whole new world opened up. For someone like me, who was looking to try different types of roles, OTT has been a blessing. In my web series, Tera Ishq Mera Fitoor, I got to explore a character that I probably wouldn’t have found in traditional media. OTT platforms have allowed me to showcase my skills to a wider audience, and I think that has helped me grow as an actress,” she says.
Ask her if the availability of diverse roles on OTT platforms has influenced her choices when selecting projects, and she says, “Yes, definitely. One of the best things about OTT is the variety of roles available. There are so many different genres and stories that it allows actors to pick roles that truly excite them. I don’t have to limit myself to one kind of character. Instead, I can try different shades and emotions, and that’s what makes it fun. For example, “Tera Ishq Mera Fitoor” had a strong and passionate storyline, and it was a role I was really excited about. I think having these choices helps me grow as an artist, and I’m always looking for projects that challenge me in new ways.”
OTT shows allow you to be more creative, she says, adding, “I believe OTT platforms offer more freedom creatively. Unlike traditional TV, where there are strict guidelines and a set format, OTT allows creators and actors to experiment. They can tell stories that are bold, raw, and real without worrying too much about fitting into a box. As an actor, it feels good to have the freedom to explore my character fully, without many restrictions. There’s a lot of creative freedom, which I think makes the content richer and more relatable for the audience.”
