Shubhangi Latkar: Stay real, stay kind that’s what fame has taught me

Actor Shubhangi Latkar, who essays the titular role of Ganga Mai in the show Ganga Mai Ki Betiyaan, shares her thoughts on handling fame, staying grounded, and maintaining a balance between her personal and professional life.

Opening up about dealing with fame and public attention, she says, “Honestly, I just remind myself that I am the same person I was before all this. Fame comes and goes, but your real self should stay the same. I try not to take too much pressure and focus on doing my work sincerely.”

Her passion for acting continues to be her driving force. “My love for acting keeps me going. Also, when I think about my journey and how far I’ve come, it gives me strength. My family and their belief in me also motivate me a lot,” she shares.

Like many in the industry, she admits to experiencing moments of self-doubt. “Yes, of course… I am human. There are times I feel ‘Am I doing right?’ But then I calm myself down, trust my experience, and remind myself why I started. Dheere dheere clarity comes.”

When it comes to disconnecting from work, Shubhangi finds comfort in simple moments. “I try to spend time with my family, talk to my children, and just be myself. Sometimes I switch off my phone, sit quietly, or listen to music. Small things help a lot.”

She credits her family and close friends for keeping her grounded. “They are everything. They remind me who I really am. With them, I am not an actor, I am just ‘me’. That keeps me very grounded and peaceful.”

Sharing her perspective on criticism, she adds, “I listen to genuine criticism because it helps me grow. But unnecessary negativity, I simply ignore. You cannot make everyone happy, and that’s okay.”

Her self-care approach is rooted in simplicity and mindfulness. “I try to stay calm, breathe properly, and take care of my health. Even sitting quietly for some time helps. Also, positive thinking is very important,” she says.

While she does not follow strict routines, her belief in honesty guides her. “I always tell myself, ‘Just be honest in your work.’ That gives me confidence. I believe everything will fall into place.”

Maintaining her identity beyond work is something she consciously prioritizes. “I make a clear line in my mind. Work is important, but it is just one part of my life. I am also a mother, a friend, a person, and I value that equally.”

Summing up the biggest lesson fame has taught her, Shubhangi concludes, “Fame is temporary, but relationships and values stay forever. So never lose yourself while chasing success. Stay real, stay kind.”
