‘Maharaj’ garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences, achieving notable success on streaming platforms. Previously, it not only topped the top 10 charts in India but has also captured the number one spot in 22 other countries. Recently, Malhotra also took to social media to thank Aditya Chopra and the YRF team for their unwavering support. He wrote, “Once again, Adi allowed me to bring to life a story that needed to be told. I am overwhelmed by the love Maharaj is receiving. A simple ‘thank you’ seems inadequate for the immense gratitude I have towards you, Adi, and the entire YRF team.”
Malhotra also praised Junaid Khan, who made his debut with ‘Maharaj’. He remarked, “Junaid truly embodies the saying, ‘A fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree.’ His work ethic and acting prowess clearly reflect the influence of his father [Aamir Khan].” ‘Maharaj’ marked Malhotra’s return to the director’s chair after the 2018 blockbuster, ‘Hichki’.
