Marathi cinema has explored a wide range of subjects over the years. Now, the upcoming film Dhadpad is set to bring yet another distinctive story to audiences. The film will offer a powerful portrayal of rural life, the struggles of a farming family, their dreams, and their relentless efforts to achieve them. Shooting for the film has recently commenced at Gomewadi in Atpadi Taluka. With a woman-centric storyline, actress Smita Tambe will be seen playing the central role.
Presented by Bodhi Cinema and produced by Ashwini Samadhan Aiwale, the film is based on a story by Balaji Waghmode. An experienced team of technicians has been brought together for the project. Abhishek Javir, who directed the recently released film Phula, will direct Dhadpad as well.
The technical team includes Anup Jagdale as Creative Director, Veerdhawal Patil as Cinematographer, Atul Lokhande as Art Director, Dipali Deshmukh for Costume Design, Swati Thorat for Set Design, Kalpesh Jagtap as Executive Producer, and Samadhan Aiwale as Music Director.
The film features Smita Tambe, Kishor Chougule, Kushal Badrike, Parth Bhalerao, Monalisa Bagal, Ashwini Kasar, Prabhakar More, and Rohit Chavan in prominent roles.
The story revolves around a smallholder farming family. It presents an emotional and realistic portrayal of dreams being shattered due to the misfortunes and shortcomings of the family’s breadwinner, the hardships that consequently befall the family, and a woman’s determined struggle to keep the household going despite all odds.
The film tells the story of a woman who works tirelessly and struggles relentlessly for her family and farmland. At the same time, it also touches upon village politics, women’s leadership, political manoeuvring, and the exploitation and hardships faced by ordinary people as a consequence of political rivalry.
Director Abhishek Javir said that with its story deeply rooted in rural soil, the struggles of a farming family, the complexities of relationships, the realities of politics, and the determination to pursue one’s dreams, Dhadpad promises to offer audiences a distinctive and engaging cinematic experience.
