There are some women who inspire you, and for actor Somy Ali, that is actress Kangana Ranaut. Kangana, who will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on BJP’s ticket from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, was publicly slammed by Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate on instagram. Somy says that Kangana is a self-made woman and is such a role model for other girls, who want to follow the same path.
“This is a woman who has worked incredibly hard to get where she is and that too on her own merit and accord. She is a Shero! To call her names is despicable and impacts the entire women’s empower movement. @kanganaranaut is a role model for young girls and women universally that with hard work and persistence, one can achieve the unattainable,” she wrote on Instagram, with a picture of the actress.
Somy, who runs a US-based NGO called No More Tears and helps protect and rehabilitate victims of domestic violence and rape, adds, “And, the people responsible for calling her names should be ashamed of themselves and owe her an immediate public apology rather than conveniently blaming it on a hack. Please! We aren’t children and that’s naive. If you have done the crime, serve the time. As for Kangana, I have had nothing but respect for her because I know what it’s like to be a part of that industry and how power is used to hurt people more than help them. I salute this talented, fearless and beautiful young lady and congratulate her in all her future endeavors. She is where she is today because of her hard work and not kissing up to anyone.”
She says that Kangana needs a public apology from people who have condemned her in the past. “As for using those despicable words towards any women even if they do choose that profession, none of us have that right. None of us are saints and all of us have secrets that we hide. Show me a saint and I will prove you a liar. I am with Kangana and all human beings who choose to do whatever it may be as long as it is not hurting another individual. Koi bhi doodh ka dhula hua nahin hai is duniya main. So, remember how many fingers are pointing back at you while you point your one finger at others. Again, congratulations to Kangana and she owes a public apology. We all know there was no hack,” says Somy
