Actor Somy Ali, who runs a US-based NGO called No More Tears, has been at the receiving end of trolling many times. She says that it takes guts to stand up for yourself against these trolls.
“I must begin by saying kudos to Ayesha! While I do not know her personally and just through photographs and her work, to me, she is a beautiful person. And, above all, it’s commendable that she has given it back to these worthless trolls who have nothing better to do with their lives. I always say in some instances one has to bark back at the dogs and this is that one instance where she defended herself logically and eloquently. If I start taking what people have said to me in my DMs, there will be no end. I am blessed with the trait of empathy, which these sociopaths/trolls do not have in their DNA. Anyone who has the time or wherewithal to verbally abuse another individual or make a mockery of them, is the biggest loser and the most pathetic waste of space on our planet. Sadly, their lives are so empty that the only way to fulfil their void is to make others feel bad about themselves. Hence, to Ayesha, please know the jokes on them, never on us,” she says.
She says that whenever she has been trolled for looks, she remembers Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence. “I will address this with something Jennifer Lawrence said when a renowned journalist asked her if her daughter one day would ask her mother, Jennifer Lawrence, ‘Mommy do you think I am pretty’? To which Jennifer astoundingly responded, ‘I would tell my daughter why does that matter at all?’ I will never forget this response from Jennifer Lawerence whom I consider to be extremely pretty and extremely talented. Her response taught me a lesson for an entire lifetime and stayed with me for years after I heard her interview. I have immense respect for Ayesha just by how she handled and responded to these losers,” she says.
