ZEE5 Global is all set to premiere ‘Maaman’, a heartfelt Tamil family drama that unpacks the emotional chaos that unfolds when a fiercely devoted uncle’s bond with his young nephew is put to the test by the arrival of his new bride—sparking a tug-of-war between love, loyalty, and personal space. Written & Directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj, the film features an endearing ensemble led by Soori, Rajkiran, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Swasika, with little Prageeth Sivan lighting up the screen as the spirited and scene-stealing Laddu.
After receiving applause for its theatrical release in May, Maaman, a relatable narrative that audiences will resonate with is soon going to have its World Digital Premiere, exclusively on ZEE5 Global and ZEE Tamil. The narrative of the film flows effortlessly, with Inba (Soori), the kind of uncle every child dreams of—devoted, playful, and willing to move mountains for his beloved nephew Laddu, the miracle baby born to his sister Girija (Swasika) after years of waiting. But when Inba marries Rekha (Aishwarya Lekshmi), a kind and practical doctor, his perfectly imbalanced world begins to wobble. Rekha finds herself in a marriage where a hyperactive child runs the show, private moments are constantly hijacked, and every family function comes with drama and a side of emotional guilt-tripping.
While everything seemed to go well, there was an underlying problem which no one saw coming. As Laddu’s attachment to Inba deepens and tempers flare on all sides, cracks begin to show, not just in the marriage, but across the entire family. Amid miscommunications, shifting loyalties, and a child caught in the middle, Maaman asks: can unconditional love for family come at the cost of the love you build for yourself—and what happens when you’re forced to choose?
‘Maaman’ is a film that the entire family can watch together, deriving one of the most significant questions, thought, message that most of the individuals have had at least once in their lifetime.\
