In a time where sharing every moment online has become almost natural, actor Sumbul Touqeer who is known for shows Imlie,Kavya - Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon and last seen in show Itni si Khushi, chooses to pause and reflect before putting her life out there. For her, social media is not a space for complete exposure, but a space that needs awareness and boundaries.
“Privacy is very important for me,” she says. “I don’t like to share everything on social media because I feel not every person has the same intention while seeing your life,” she adds thoughtfully. She further explains, “I believe a lot in energies, and not everyone gives positive energy. That’s one of the reasons I avoid posting too much,” she says.
While she understands the importance of staying connected with fans, Sumbul prefers to keep that connection meaningful. “I do share sometimes, but only what I am comfortable with,” she says. “I feel some moments are meant to be lived, not shown,” she adds, highlighting her balanced approach.
Speaking about validation, she shares a very grounded thought. “Social media has somewhere made us seek validation without even realizing it,” she says. “But I feel your worth cannot depend on likes or comments,” she adds. According to her, self-acceptance matters more than public approval. “If you are at peace with yourself, you don’t need constant reassurance from the outside,” she says.
The actress also opens up about handling opinions online. “I respect what people say, but I don’t let it define me,” she says. “Everyone has their own perspective, and that is okay, but I know my reality,” she adds calmly.
Talking about the effects of endless scrolling, Sumbul admits it can be overwhelming. “It has become an addiction for many of us,” she says. “Sometimes you don’t even realize how much it affects your mind,” she adds. She believes it often leads to unnecessary comparisons. “You start feeling like you are missing out, even when you are not,” she says.
