Suraj Berry: Travel is my way of recharging and seeing life from a fresh perspective

Suraj Berry, son of veteran actor Sudesh Berry — who is remembered for iconic films like Border, Sanam Teri Kasam, Army and television shows such as Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Suraag: The Clue — is all set to make a comeback to the world of acting after years away from the industry. Along with his passion for the craft, Suraj also places great importance on the role of travel in his life. “For me, a good holiday is more than just taking time off — it’s about recharging mentally and emotionally. Travel helps me break away from routine, see life from a fresh perspective, and come back feeling lighter and more motivated,” he shares.
His most recent breaks included a holiday in Goa earlier this year and a trip to Sydney last summer. “My all-time favorite place to unwind in India is the beaches of Goa — the calm mornings and lively evenings always leave me refreshed. Abroad, my dream destination is Masai Mara. It’s still on my bucket list, but for me, it’s the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, especially with the wildlife and the Great Migration,” Suraj reveals.

On balancing travel with commitments, the actor is realistic yet optimistic. “Traveling is important for everyone. It gives you stories, experiences, and memories that no material thing can replace. But not everyone can travel often — personal and professional commitments sometimes take over. Even then, I try to make time for shorter trips, because even a quick getaway can make a big difference,” he says. Suraj also enjoys solo travel, calling it one of the most enriching experiences of his life. “A solo trip gave me confidence, freedom to explore at my own pace, and the joy of meeting new people along the way. It’s something I would recommend to everyone at least once,” he adds. When it comes to essentials, he likes to keep it simple yet practical. “I always carry my headphones for music and podcasts, a power bank — because it’s a lifesaver when you’re on the move — and sunglasses, which are both practical and instantly give me that holiday vibe.”
As Suraj gears up for his acting comeback, he continues to embrace travel as a source of inspiration and balance. “Holidays give me the pause I need before I return to the hustle. They’re not just breaks, they’re investments in myself,” he adds.
