Tannaz Irani is stepping into a fresh phase of her career with her first OTT outing, Margao Files. Known for her versatility across films, television, and reality shows, she has been a familiar and beloved presence for over three decades. From films like Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, and 36 China Town to television hits such as Ye Meri Life Hai, Badi Door Se Aaye Hain, Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum, and most recently Barsatein, her body of work reflects both range and consistency.
Speaking about how she came on board Margao Files, Tannaz shares that the experience was quite unexpected. “The director offered me the role directly, without an audition. I had initially come in for what was meant to be a two-day part, but things evolved, and I ended up being featured much more prominently in the show,” she explains.
Beyond acting, Tannaz wears many hats—she is a three-time TEDx speaker, author, director, motivational speaker, and India’s only celebrity NLP transformation coach. She believes the timing of this project couldn’t have been better. “This is my OTT debut, and I’m genuinely thrilled. We shot it back in 2022, and it feels like it has been released at just the right moment,” she says.
When it came to preparing for her role, Tannaz focused more on nuance than heavy groundwork. “I didn’t need extensive preparation, but I did rehearse in different ways to strike the right tone, especially with the language. I wanted it to feel natural without being too harsh. Eventually, the stronger words were toned down since the show is on WAVES,” she adds.
Shot in the scenic mid-island regions of Goa, the series benefits from a visually rich backdrop that enhances its storytelling. Tannaz also clarifies that despite sharing the project, she did not have scenes with Zeenat Aman.
