Tanuj Virwani shares his road to recovery after his unfortunate accident

If you are someone who’s followed actor Tanuj Virwani closely on-screen as well as off-screen, you will certainly know quite well that he is a big-time cricket buff. His enthusiasm for the sport knows no limits and that’s why, you literally see him playing cricket whenever he gets an opportunity. Be it at his farmhouse or on sets, Tanuj leaves no stone unturned to enjoy his breather with his dose of cricket. His social media stories are certainly entertaining for cricket lovers. Be it him giving a sneak-peek of his cricket games with his friends or becoming team India’s biggest cheerleader, we have seen it all. However, some time back, something unforeseen happened with the actor while playing cricket. He unfortunately slipped over a small puddle due to which he ended up landing directly on his left shoulder thereby leaving a serious injury on his collar bone and ligaments. After the accident, he underwent a surgery where a steel plate was also inserted to aid the AC joint reconstruction. The surgery was successful and ever since then, he’s been on his road to recovery.

During this tough and tumultuous phase, Tanuj has displayed immense courage, grit and determination to deal with this adverse situation and certainly his parents and wife have played a pivotal role in supporting him in this phase. Regarding all that unfolded in his life throughout this entire duration and how his parents and wife supported him, Tanuj shares, “So I got treated at Sancheti Hospital, the second-best Orthopaedic hospital in the country. It’s the same place where my mom got both her knees replaced. This is why, when we were contemplating going to Mumbai or Pune, we decided to opt for the latter. I was absolutely bamboozled when I realised that I had to be admitted to the hospital. I did realize the moment I hit the ground that it was something bad but never could I imagine that I dislocated my shoulder and broke my left collar bone. We first went to a clinic in Lonavala but since they didn’t have the facility of an MRI there, we had to drive to Pune. Once we reached there around 3:30/ 4 AM, we realised the extent of the damage. The collar bone was completely ruptured and the ligaments were torn through. My operation was scheduled for the next morning but unfortunately, it got postponed to afternoon at about 3pm. It went for about 1 and a half hours where I was under general anesthesia. Metal plates had been inserted to rejoin the collar bone which will be removed about 6-7 months later once I have completed recovery. It’s been insane. Everyone, right from the doctors to the entire hospital staff, they have been absolutely phenomenal and I don’t think I would have been able to travel to Thailand all the way without them. They have been wonderful and I am incredibly grateful. Also, my parents and my wife Tanya have been my biggest pillar of strength and support throughout. I feel lucky to have them and they are nothing short of a constant blessing in my life. Words aren’t enough to explain what I feel about them."

Well, here’s wishing Tanuj Virwani a very speedy recovery.
