The much-awaited film Krantijyoti Vidyalaya – Marathi Medium, which presents an engaging take on the existence and challenges of Marathi-medium schools, recently unveiled its trailer in a unique and emotionally charged setting. The trailer launch ceremony was held in the courtyard of the same school in Nagaon, Alibaug, where the film was shot.
Surrounded by classrooms, benches, blackboards, and the playground that had witnessed both school life and filming moments, the cast and attendees once again revisited their memories of school days and the shoot.
Krantijyoti Vidyalaya – Marathi Medium tells the story of a Marathi school on the verge of shutting down. The trailer shows that as the school faces closure, former students reunite after many years and stand shoulder to shoulder to save their alma mater. During this reunion, they relive their mischievous moments, friendships, teachers’ discipline, punishments, fun, chaos, and innocent memories from their school days. The trailer is filled with nostalgia and connects directly with the audience’s emotions. While being entertaining and nostalgic, it also touches upon a highly sensitive and relevant issue of today’s times. At a time when the closure of Marathi schools is a growing concern, the film highlights the importance of the Marathi language and Marathi education through entertainment.
Director Hemant Dhome says, “The declining number of Marathi schools in Maharashtra is a reality. Against this backdrop, we have tried to tell a story that is fun, emotional, and yet rooted in reality. Launching the trailer at the same school where we shot the film was a very special experience for us. It refreshed our memories of the shoot. I am confident that while watching this film, audiences will be reminded of their own school days and will truly understand the importance of Marathi schools.”
Krantijyoti Vidyalaya – Marathi Medium is set to release on 1 January 2026. Veteran actor Sachin Khedekar will be seen in the role of the school principal. Joining him is a strong star cast including Amey Wagh, Siddharth Chandekar, Kshiti Jog, Kadambari Kadam, Harish Dudhade, Pushkaraj Chirputkar, and Prajakta Koli, who will be making her Marathi film debut. The trailer also reveals another surprise—actress Nirmitee Sawant—and curiosity is high about the role she will play.
Produced by Chalchitra Mandali, the film is written and directed by Hemant Dhome, with Kshiti Jog as the producer. Co-producers include Viraj Gavas, Urfi Kazmi (Crazy Few Films), and Ajinkya Dhamal.
