Actor Ujjwal Sharma last seen in the show Saajan Ghar believes that in a world where people are constantly connected, genuine friendships have become even more valuable. While the entertainment industry often brings together people from different backgrounds, he says meaningful relationships are built on trust, honesty and consistency rather than frequent interactions or social circles.
Speaking about his approach to friendships, Ujjwal says he has never believed in having a large group of friends. “I’ve always preferred a small circle. I can be friendly with a lot of people, but when it comes to people I genuinely trust and open up to, there are only a handful. For me, friendship is more about quality than quantity. I value people who know the real me and stay connected even when there’s nothing to gain from the relationship,” he says.
Looking back at some of the most challenging phases of his life, the actor admits that the support of close friends helped him stay strong. Rather than grand gestures, he says it was their quiet presence that made all the difference. “There have been a few people who have stood by me during difficult phases, and I’m genuinely grateful for them. What I remember most is not necessarily something they said or did, but simply their presence. They listened, checked on me and reminded me to keep going. That kind of support stays with you,” he adds.
Talking about friendships within the entertainment industry, Ujjwal acknowledges that competition is inevitable but doesn’t believe it has to come at the cost of meaningful relationships. “Genuine friendships are absolutely possible when there is mutual respect and no insecurity about each other’s success. The right people will celebrate your wins instead of comparing them with their own,” he says.
The actor also shares that his friendships have evolved after entering the industry, largely because of hectic schedules and constant travel. However, he feels true bonds don’t fade because of distance. “Even if you speak after weeks or months, the comfort should still be the same,” he says.
Speaking about one of his oldest friends, Ujjwal says the relationship has survived because it was built long before fame entered his life. “The secret is honesty, mutual understanding and giving each other the freedom to grow,” he adds.
Despite packed shooting schedules, the actor makes a conscious effort to stay connected with loved ones. “I’ve realised that you have to make time rather than wait for free time. Even if it’s just a phone call or a quick coffee, the people who genuinely matter should never feel like they’re being pushed to the bottom of the priority list just because work is busy,” he says.
