Every year, films in various languages are honored with National Awards. Recently, the 70th National Awards were announced, and the film Vaalvi, directed by Paresh Mokashi, has been declared the winner of this year’s ‘Best Marathi Film’ award. Produced by Maysabha Entertainment and Zee Studios, the film stars Swapnil Joshi, Anita Date, Subodh Bhave, and Shivani Surve in lead roles. The story, screenplay, and dialogues of Vaalvi were penned by Paresh Mokashi and Madhugandha Kulkarni.
Vaalvi is a word that carries a negative connotation, yet this film, with such a title, manages to make audiences laugh while also prompting introspection. Vaalvi has remained a topic of discussion not just in Marathi cinema but also in other languages due to its unique subject matter and presentation. It has been well-received by both critics and audiences alike. Paresh Mokashi is known for bringing something new and unconventional with each project, and Vaalvi is no exception. As the first thriller-comedy in Marathi cinema, it resonated deeply with viewers.
Zee Studios’ CBO Umesh Krishna (Kumar) Bansal stated, “Zee Studios is always striving to bring something out-of-the-box for the audience. Paresh Mokashi is a very studious and sensitive director who understands the tastes of the audience. Today, Vaalvi has won the National Award for Best Marathi Film. This is a moment of joy for everyone. It is an honor for everyone involved in Vaalvi.”
Director Paresh Mokashi expressed, “I am very happy. This award is not just mine; it belongs to our entire team. I am equally grateful to the audience.”
