Vijaya Babar: Born on Vijayadashami, Hence Named 'Vijaya'

Navratri is a celebration of power, devotion, and the many forms of womanhood. The form of the Goddess is not just a religious idea, but also an inspiration for living life with strength and grace. One such inspiring story is that of Kamli—better known as Vijaya Babar. Vijaya has embodied the nine qualities of the Navadurga goddesses in her own life. Through her experiences, struggles, self-reliance, and confidence, she has truly become a living symbol of feminine power.

“For the past five years, I have been living on my own strength. I manage my finances, run my household, and handle every responsibility myself. This strength reflects the steadfastness, courage, and confidence of Goddess Shailputri. Like Brahmacharini, I have discipline, self-control, and focus as part of my nature. I never react impulsively; I think first and then speak— a calmness inspired by Chandraghanta Devi. My creativity and energy help me adapt to any new role; I feel the vibrant energy of Kushmanda Devi when I begin something new."

She adds, “Like Skandamata, I hold deep love and a protective instinct for those close to me— I stand by them in every situation. The fierce form of Katyayani Devi has never fully emerged, but I know I carry the courage to face injustice and the strength to fight for what’s right— qualities I am currently bringing to life in my role as Kamli. I always keep the company of positive people and stay away from negativity— a trait of Kaalratri Devi. My life, like that of Mahagauri, is peaceful. And like Siddhidatri Devi, I constantly strive for wisdom, completeness, and understanding.”

“I am not perfect, but I put my heart into doing every task well. The foundation of all these qualities comes from my mother and sister. My family is my true source of strength. But after I started living and working independently, I nurtured these qualities within myself,” Vijaya shares emotionally. “My birth on the day of Vijayadashami is the reason I was named ‘Vijaya.’ That is why Navratri and Dussehra hold a deep personal connection for me. This festival is not merely a religious occasion—it is a powerful reminder of my own inner strength.”

Like Vijaya Babar, countless women today embody the virtues of the nine goddesses, carving out their own unique identities in society. Her journey as Kamli—Vijaya’s lived experience—stands as a true testament to the spirit of Navratri’s divine power.
