Zee Marathi’s upcoming show ‘Kamlee’ is all set to premiere soon, and the promo featuring Kamlee’s powerful recital of the Shiv Stuti has already gone viral and is being widely talked about. Vijaya Babar, who plays the titular role of Kamlee, shared her experience of shooting that promo.
She shares, “Whenever I used to see the Dhol-Tasha troupes perform, they would begin with a Shiv Stuti—and I used to love that. I always felt that I too should learn to recite the Shiv Stuti. There’s something about the energy and the goosebumps you get when it’s performed—it’s truly magical. Thanks to ‘Kamlee’, I got the opportunity to memorize the Shiv Stuti, and it’s something I’ll carry with me for life. I feel very proud that I now know this praise of Lord Shiva by heart. It wasn’t easy—it took me two full days to memorize it. During that time, I kept listening to it constantly. For me, it was a challenge to get the pronunciation right and deliver it within the required time. Everyone on set loved that scene and the promo. We were shooting the entire day, and the part where I had to recite the Shiv Stuti had to be completed just before we lost daylight—that was another challenge.”
